Healthcare is one of the most discussed uses for humanoid robots and one of the least proven. The vision is straightforward: robots that help with elder care, fetch and carry in hospitals, support rehabilitation, and let people stay independent at home longer. The reality in 2026 is that almost none of this is deployed at scale, and for good reason.
Care work is unstructured, physically delicate, and safety-critical in a way warehouse work is not. A robot near a frail person has a far lower margin for error than one moving a tote. The constraint is the same one facing the whole field, only sharper here: physical AI is not yet reliable enough for unsupervised work around vulnerable people. Expect controlled pilots and assistive tasks first, not autonomous caregivers, for years.
